Antimicrobial Stewardship in the Dental Setting
Course Description: Introduction to utilizing antibiotic stewardship tools to promote appropriate use for antibiotics to improve patient outcomes Course Outcomes: Participants will be able to describe how to utilize antibiotic stewardship tools to promote appropriate use of antibiotics to improve patient outcomes.
Instructor: Elaine Bailey BS PharmD
Dr. Elaine Bailey is the Executive Director of the Michigan Antibiotic Resistance Reduction (MARR) Coalition and has served on the MARR Advisory Council since 2000. She earned her doctorate of pharmacy degree and completed fellowship training in anti-infective pharmacotherapy at Wayne State University. She has held positions in academia, hospital pharmacy and pharmaceutical industry medical affairs, supporting the scientific development of a variety of anti-infectives. She has authored numerous scientific articles on antibiotic use and been an invited lecturer at pharmacy, medical and dental meetings. Through her work with the MARR Coalition and collaboration with OSAP, her goal is to educate dental practices and patients to be better stewards of antibiotics, in an effort to curb the public health crisis of antibiotic resistance and improve patient care.
