The multiagency response that followed included enhanced rabies surveillance and a vaccination campaign among Nebraska wildlife. The timely multiagency response can be used as an example for future situations. Health officials should continue to promote rabies vaccination in domestic animals and increase rabies variant typing, particularly for animals with a history of travel and non-reservoir species.
